As a child, while walking through fields with my grandma, collecting sheep's wool from the hedgerows, I took my first steps on an journey of awareness and conservation. I am committed to work in an ethical and socially responsible way, having carried out research relating to reusable plastics and non biodegradable materials. As a result, I use natural fibres and processes which are environmentally friendly.
I make hand woven scarves and wraps with silver accessories. I like experimenting with weave structures, and I dye my own yarn or pieces, using methods with low environmental impact.
The time needed to design and develop unique pieces has meant that I now concentrate solely on my own practice, after spending years studying and working as a teacher. I also love experimenting and exploring new materials and processes to give interesting textural patterns.
I have enjoyed working on personal designs for clients - especially for weddings. Therefore please feel free to contact me with any special requirements
My clients have made comments such as:
“Stunning use of colour, it really brings my outfits to life when I wear my scarf.”
“ My unique hand woven and painted Ikat scarf is beautiful.”
“I love my free-form twisted bangle, it gets a lot of admiring comments.”
I studied Textiles and Fine Art at Bath Spa University and achieved a First Class Honours degree. I gained a PGCE teaching qualification and started teaching adults and young people with learning difficulties, whilst perfecting my weaving skills. I can there for offer talks and creative workshops in addition to my makes.
